Refreshingly raw is the only two words that came to mind when I stumbled across InAisce (in-ask-ee) this weekend while browsing through Pinterest (yes I said Pinterest). InAisce is a menswear label based and produced here in New York and is designed by founder Jona Sees. Though predominately a menswear brand he does produce a few pieces for women as well each season. They (the old heads over at the CFDA probably) say fashion is an art and indeed, InAisce embodies the art form of fashion very well, all while still being wearable. This idea of being “still wearable” is important because we often see many brands focusing on being innovative (which is important) and all Avant garde, with some crazy out of the box ideas and trying to be on some Mars-ish with fashion. They seem to be forgetting that the clothing is something that needs to be worn still. Of course, no shade to couture.
InAisce’s brand essence, from what I gathered, encompasses the elements and influences of nature, architecture, and Jona’s own experiences from his extensive travels abroad. These all come together to give the brand a sort of nomadic spirit. His play on texture is evident throughout his collections and is pivotal to what InAisce is. Quality and craftsmanship are the emphasis! This is very achievable given that Jona produces only one collection annually (mind blowing right!?!). Time allows him to craft his collections to perfection as a blacksmith hammering steel into a sword, or a carpenter in his shop shaping wood into a chair. It’s garment engineering at its finest! Now as for the price tag, that’s between you and your bank account! Check out some of my favorite pieces from InAisce’s FW15 collection below and stop by the website at inaisce.com to view more and iaparticles.com if you want to cop something!
